Dedication to Help Kids Learn through Multiple Intelligence (MI) - Pn Razmah Dahlan from R.E.A.L Kids Wangsa Melawati

Privileged to meet Principal Ms Gina (R.E.A.L Kids Suria) and Principal Pn Razmah (R.E.A.L Kids Wangsa Melawati) during KPI Visit on 22nd Dec 2015.
What is dedication to serve in education industry? I do not know for sure. But Pn Razmah opened my eyes to see it from one perspective - she traveled daily from Semenyih to Wangsa Melawati to run a preschool she believes in, R.E.A.L Kids Wangsa Melawati, where Multiple Intelligence is practiced under Ms Esther Yong's leadership.

Do you know that your kids can learn most effectively when guided with their inborn intelligence?
I'm sure most of us have heard stories of how teachers manage to get kids attention by playing music. But have you heard of special cases whereby a Special Kid was able to stay focused when you give her a book to read by herself? This special kid later proved to be outstanding under Pn Razmah's patient guidance. She turned out to be self-smart! What happened was, all children were coached to perform their parts during an upcoming Concert. Towards the event date, suddenly there was an unanticipated change of venue. Every child was stunned and was not able to perform as practiced during the event with the exception of this little girl. She turned out to love the surprises and she danced and sang like a fairytale princess, fully utilizing her new stage. Her mother was so impressed!

Another instance Pn Razmah shared was another self-smart or Intrapersonal child she guided when she was a teacher. Little did Pn Razmah know that Little B is actually very active and good at impersonation at home. She was so surprised when Little B's grandmother shared with her that Little B sat grandma at a little desk back at home, flipped her exercise book and repeated the entire session Razmah taught back at school. She was playing the role of a Teacher at the tender age of 5. She imitated even Razmah's slang, gestures and every single word she said. So fellow teachers, please do not assume that the quiet little child in your class is a slow learner. You'll be surprised how smart they actually are.

A final note I caught in Pn Razmah's office before I bid her thank you and goodbye for her warm hospitality during KPI visit, I found it interesting and had taken a picture of it here for us to ponder.

Ability is what you're capable of doing; Motivation determines what you do; Attitude determines how well you do it.

What Makes A Good Preschool Teacher - Teacher Sharmine from R.E.A.L Kids Taman Cuepacs

"R.E.A.L Kids offered me my first working experience and working here has been memorable for me. I would love to continue working in R.E.A.L Kids after I complete my studies." - Teacher Gayathiri from R.E.A.L Kids Taman Cuepacs.

What makes a good preschool teacher?
by Teacher Sharmine from R.E.A.L Kids Taman Cuepacs.

A good example of a potentially good preschool teacher would be Teacher Gayathiri from R.E.A.L Kids Taman Cuepacs. She's only 20 years old this year and she's a first year ECCE student from SEGi College. She first impressed Teacher Sharmine by sharing how much she loves children and how that drove her to choose teaching as her career.

Teacher Gayathiri started work with R.E.A.L Kids after her SPM and she worked for about 1 year before she quit middle of 2014 for further studies. Due to the flexibility of her study schedule in the afternoons, she reapplied to us as Assistant Teacher for half day, morning sessions where she gets to apply directly the knowledge she gains from her ECCE studies.

Teacher Gayathiri is a dedicated teacher who is able to multitask. On top of that, she's helpful and willing to help any class at any time. Her dedication is not just at work but practiced at college, resulting in her being one of the top scorers in the college.

One key thing Teacher Sharmine recollects in her experience working with Teacher Gayathiri is that Teacher Gayathiri is mesmerized with how our senior teachers are able to work so long in this field. This has not only inspired her to stick around to taste the fruits of this career but learned to be more organized. Teacher Gayathiri also loves Arts & Crafts, running and organizing Events, Concerts, etc, which are parts and parcels of a preschool teacher's responsibilities.

R.E.A.L Kids Offers Professional Development to Teachers through MAP - Teacher Thila from R.E.A.L Kids Shah Alam

Teacher Thila, a proud member of R.E.A.L Kids' Management Apprentice Program (MAP)
"The R.E.A.L Kids journey had been an incredible and wonderful experience for me.

It allows me to be a true educator. Here in R.E.A.L Kids I encountered new information, skills and concepts related to teaching. It brings new meaning to pedagogy, applied to a child-centered, thematic and technology embedded classroom.

R.E.A.L Kids is more than an organization that provides quality education. It offers professional development to its employees. It changes the traditional thinking and help educators grow as professionals too.

Trainings, rewards and recognitions  are the fuels for passionate  teachers  like me to excel in this field.

Consistent with R.E.A.L's philosophy to transform lives through education, R.E.A.L Kids transforms its educators through the Management Apprentice Programme (MAP). Personally I am proud to be one of the chosen ones for this programme.

It has been a huge source of encouragement and inspiration for those teachers who have been dreaming to fortify their career pathway. I have learned to completely shift my career from an over-focus on teaching, to a multi-skilled individual in areas such as  management, marketing and customer care. This programme provides a platform to share ideas and techniques not only by the participants but also by the extender. I am not the same person as before  although I know I have farther to gain."

Here's the good news, R.E.A.L Kids is always on the lookout for individuals with positive characters and actively build them to be R.E.A.L pillars. Do send in your latest updated CV to recruit@real.edu.my to find out more about R.E.A.L Kids Management Apprentice Programme.

Life is but a Dream by Mrs Rajen from R.E.A.L Kids Cyberjaya

Mrs Rajen giving her 10th Toastmaster's speech during R.E.A.L Toastmaster's meeting on 28th Nov 2014.
Wonderful title of speech by Mrs Rajen. Life is but a dream.
Perhaps best to follow with Martin Luther King Junior's "I Have A Dream" to achieve its optimum impact, of course with revisions of your very own dream.

Some of the key take-away from her speech includes but are not restricted to below:

A Goal is different from a Dream. How so? Go figure it.
"Dreams will take its right of its own." - Sukhdev.
An example of a successful man with a dream is Mark Victor Hansen who published The Chicken Soup Series. He turned from a millionaire to a billionaire after publishing his Chicken Soup Series. He would coach people to take a piece of paper, write down your dream. Then increase it by 30%. Make it bigger, then you can achieve it.

When questioned about his dream, he proudly admitted he only increased his dream by 3000%.
"There is no such thing as reality because reality is only a perception and whatever you perceive to be true becomes true for you."
Sometimes people grew disappointed and tired of trying, why?
Her answer, "Your goal is too small. The force that drives you is small."
"Dream is the most important part of self development." - Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
As a conclusion, Mrs Rajen has only one statement for us,
"I have a crazy dream I'm obsessed with and I'm going to achieve it."

Additional afterword with speaker, Mrs Rajen expressed that her dream is to one day truly achieve financial freedom. To be free from financial commitments and have the freedom to live the life she wants. It might not be specific and ambitious enough to some, but it's definitely good enough for a start.

Is Kindergarten Teacher A Feel-Good Job?

What makes a feel-good job?
Is it a job with all the Highs and no Lows?
Is it a perfect job?
Or is it a job that any sane people would be willing to do with minimal or no pay?

Come on, be realistic. Perfect jobs do not exist.

So, is Preschool Teacher a FEEL-GOOD career?
What constitutes a FEEL-GOOD job anyway?

According to Dan Ariely,
Motivation = Payment + Meaning + Creation + Challenge + Ownership + Identity + Pride + etc.
So do the simple math and logical reasoning yourself and ask if being a Preschool Teacher is what makes you feel good.

If it does make you feel good and way better than what other careers could have made you, why waste your lifetime doing something less satisfying?
